How to Make Games Full Screen? - Wepicker

Playing in full screen mode can help you see your game better and reduce distractions while playing. The majority of games support full screen mode, providing you know how to activate it. Some games can be put into full screen mode through the game’s menu with the use of a simple keyboard shortcut, while others require a full screen button.

I enjoy immersing myself in games and focusing without any distractions. Full screen mode can help reduce distractions. We’ll show you how to go full screen on both games and apps in this article.

For a variety of reasons, some games and apps refuse to run full screen. It is hoped that this article will help you to understand Windows 10 better.

Using Windows Shortcuts in Full-Screen Mode

In a game or application, Alt + Enter is the fastest way to go full screen. It works for most games and apps as long as they don’t use it to enable other features. You can also use the shortcut to switch between full-screen and windowed modes.

In web browsers, the Alt + Enter shortcut does not work. Press the F11 key to display a full screen browser.

Hit that key when you are on a webpage using a browser like Google Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. The page should appear without a border, filling your entire screen.

Full screen is the default in-game display setting

If your game does not launch in full-screen mode, you should check the game’s in-game settings before doing anything else. You might have Windowed as the default display mode.

A dedicated graphics panel should be available through the main menu to change display settings in your game. It may be called Graphics Options, Display Settings, or Video Settings depending on the game. Look for Display Mode or something similar and choose Full screen from the drop-down menu.

The changes you have made should be saved and applied.

Depending on the game, full-screen mode might not be available immediately. In that case, please restart the game.

Your display will be scaled to 100%

In full screen mode, some games do not behave properly because of the computer’s display scaling. Ensure that this isn’t the problem by opening the Settings app, clicking on System, and selecting Display.

To adjust the text and app size, set it to 100% in the “Change Text and App Size” feature.

Change the main monitor

The use of dual monitors is increasingly common nowadays, but you may experience problems with certain games. You should change your primary monitor if you experience any strange behavior when trying to set a game or application to full screen.

Open the Display Settings window on your computer. If you have a multiscreen setup, you’ll see two or more monitors when it opens.

Numbers are displayed on the screens. Select Identify to identify which monitor is which. By dragging one of your screens on the opposite side, you can change the order of your screens. Save your changes and run the application or game in full screen mode.

You can tweak the settings of your graphics card

Windows 10 offers you the ability to change your main monitor, display resolution, and other settings via a general application. Graphics cards offer their own software tools, however. You might need to make some adjustments inside one of these applications, depending on your graphics card.

To change your graphics card’s settings, you can use the following applications:

  • Integrated Intel graphics cards are managed by the Intel Graphics Command Center.
  • NVIDIA Control Panel: For users of NVIDIA products.
  • AMD Radeon Software: Specifically, for AMD users.

Using the Windows start menu or the search box, you can access these applications. Although the interface looks different and some of the settings are named differently, they all work the same.

By tweaking the NVIDIA Control Panel settings, we will show you how to make the NVIDIA display full screen. Nonetheless, you can use the steps below as a guide and match these changes to your GPU’s own resolution center.

1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel in the Control Panel.

2. Go to the Global Settings tab and select Manage 3D settings from the 3D Settings tab.

3. When the Preferred graphics processor is set to Auto-select, change it to NVIDIA High-performance Processor. The auto-select feature sometimes doesn’t enable your NVIDIA GPU when you launch a game, leaving you with the onboard graphics card.

Note: This option is available only if you have more than one GPU. By default, this option is enabled if the only GPU you have is the Nvidia GPU.

4. Test full-screen mode in one of your games after applying the changes.

If the steps above did not work, you can try adjusting the size and position of the desktop. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Open NVidia’s Control Panel.

2. Select the Adjust desktop size and position option under Display.

Full-screen mode should now be available for your games. AMD users should use the AMD Radeon Software panel to apply the same changes.

Compatibility mode allows you to run games and apps

You may be experiencing compatibility issues if you can’t run a game or app in full-screen mode. Games and programs that aren’t optimized for Windows 10 usually suffer from this problem.

Right-click the app/game and select Properties to run it in compatibility mode.

You will see a drop-down menu with various versions of Windows when you open the Compatibility tab.

Make sure you first check the Run this program in compatibility mode for option, then choose an older version of Windows, such as Windows 7 or even XP. Save the changes and test the game/application.

The Taskbar should be set to its default settings

If you change the Taskbar’s settings, some games and apps may not run properly in full-screen mode. Users report that their issues are solved after moving the Taskbar back to the bottom of the screen.

If your Taskbar is not in its default position, right-click it and uncheck the Lock all taskbars option.

It can now be moved to the bottom by dragging it there. Once it’s in place, make sure you lock it so that it doesn’t move accidentally again.

You can set your Taskbar to automatically hide when your computer is in desktop mode if this is the problem, but you want it elsewhere.

You can do that by running the Windows 10 Settings app and selecting Personalization. You will then see the Taskbar settings on the left side of the screen. To allow the taskbar to automatically disappear when in desktop mode, turn it on.

One of the solutions above should work if your game or app has a full-screen option.
