How to Refund a Game on PS4? - Wepicker

Have you decided to return a digital game you purchased on your PlayStation? Find out how to get your money back.

Your mileage may vary when it comes to getting a refund for a digital game on Sony’s PS4 or PS5. It is technically impossible to get a refund for a digital game that you have already downloaded or played unless the content is faulty. In most cases, PlayStation Support decides – and whether the game is bug-ridden or not. If you purchase a game and decide you don’t like it, you have up to 14 days to request a refund.

It can be frustrating to buy a game and then discover you don’t like it. Whatever the reason behind your need for a refund, it is easy and usually straightforward to refund a PS4 or PS5 game. We’ll show you how to get your money back on a PS4 or PS5 game.

PlayStation Refund Policy

You must request a refund within 14 days of making your purchase on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. Unless you know the game is faulty or has bugs, like Cyberpunk 2077 when it was first released, you cannot have downloaded or played the content prior to requesting the refund.

Make sure to double-check if the faulty game is indeed the game and not something else, such as a PlayStation 4 Wi-Fi issue. Returns are handled through Sony’s live chat bot on the PlayStation website. No matter whether you’re using a PS4 or a PS5, the process is the same.

Refund a PS4 or PS5 game via Sony’s website

Following these simple steps will allow you to request a PlayStation refund. To proceed with this method, you will need your PSN ID, associated email address, date of birth, and the name of the game you’d like refunded.

1. Go to the PlayStation Store Refund Request page.

2. Select Yes to confirm you are the owner of the PlayStation account associated with the refund request.

3. Describe your refund request, such as what you would like to refund (i.e. a game or a subscription service such as PS Now), why you are requesting a refund, and how long has passed since you purchased the content.

4. Write down the Support ID you were given.

5. Select Next, and then Yes when asked if you would like to speak to a live agent.

A live agent will then contact you to discuss your request and determine whether you’re eligible for a refund. Your refund value will be given to you as PSN store credit in your PlayStation wallet if the payment method you used to purchase the game cannot be used for whatever reason (e.g. you’ve switched banks).

Get ready your information, which includes your PSN ID, the email address associated with your account, your birthdate, and the game you want refunded. As an alternative to being refunded directly to the payment method you used to purchase the game, you may instead receive PSN store credit in your wallet. Sony’s refund policy got a bit of a makeover after it barred other online retailers from selling digital game codes, making PlayStation the only place to order games for PS4 and PS5.

PS4 games can now be refunded

Hopefully, following these methods allowed you to refund your PS4 or PS5 game that you no longer wanted. You can then use that money to buy a different game.
