Snapchat Dark Mode - Wepicker

Originally known as Snap Inc., Snapchat is an American instant messaging app and service that allows users to send pictures and messages. Snapchat is characterized by the fact that pictures and messages are usually accessible only for a short period of time before they become inaccessible. Originally focused on person-to-person photo sharing, the app now offers users’ “Stories” of 24 hours of chronological content, as well as “Discover,” where brands can display short-form ads. Additionally, users can keep photos in a password-protected space with the “my eyes only” feature. Additionally, end-to-end encryption has been incorporated, with plans to expand its use in the future.

Former Stanford students Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown founded Snapchat. It has gained notoriety for being a new approach to social media, focusing on interacting with augmented reality objects and virtual stickers. Snapchat had 293 million daily active users at the end of July 2021, a 23% increase year over year. Snaps are sent on average every day in excess of 4 billion. Parents have many privacy concerns about Snapchat, which is popular among younger generations, particularly those under the age of 16.

When people use their phones at night, they often experience eye strain. As well as that, screens emit a harsh blue light that interferes with sleep as well as causes headaches and other problems. You can avoid this problem by using dark mode on apps, websites, and smart devices.

Many popular apps now offer native dark themes, but there are still quite a few that do not. For example, Snapchat does not support dark themes. This is quickly changing, however. Recently, Facebook started rolling out a dark mode for its iOS app, and its Android app is expected to receive the same feature soon. However, if you don’t want to wait, there’s a simple workaround to access dark mode as soon as possible on a rooted Android phone.

The “Appearance” section of the app settings was added to Snapchat in May. Match System, Always Light, and Always Dark options can be used to automatically match an app theme with iOS system themes, to keep the light mode on by default, or to use the new dark mode is the default. XDA Recognized Developer Quinny899 reports that the in-development dark theme can be enabled via the Preferences Manager app, even though it’s not live yet on the Android version of the app.

Please note that the Preferences Manager app requires root access, so you must root your device before following the steps below. Get started by reading our comprehensive guide if you’ve never rooted your phone.

What is Dark Mode?

The Dark Mode setting (also called night mode) changes the app’s color scheme to create a darker landscape. You can also refer to dark mode as bedtime mode if you plan to stay up with the lights off at night. The Facebook app, as well as many other apps, including Snapchat, support Dark Mode.

You can use your phone or other smart devices in Dark Mode at night without straining your eyes or disrupting your sleep. It is unfortunate that not all apps offer a night mode-even some of the most popular ones haven’t yet added it.

The following steps will enable dark mode on Snapchat regardless of other apps’ capabilities.

How to Enable Dark Mode in Snapchat on Android?

While Snapchat consistently promises Dark Mode for Android, they seem to update everything else (as of Oct 3, 2021). This may be due to an issue they’re having. No one knows. In any case, do not be discouraged.

Snapchat on Android may not support Dark Mode natively, but there are alternative solutions.

Snapchat can be “forced” to use Dark Mode by turning on developer mode and changing settings. Find out how to do it here.

  1. At the top right, select the “Gear” (Settings) icon.Snapchat
  1. Select “Display.”Snapchat
  2. Enable “Dark Mode.”Snapchat
  3. Select “About Phone” under “Settings” after scrolling all the way down.Snapchat
  4. Select “Software Information.”Snapchat
  5. “Build Number” should be repeatedly tapped six times. After 3 clicks, you will receive a notification showing “almost there” about developer mode. To enable developer mode, you will need to enter your password or code.Snapchat
  6. Select the “Developer Options” that you just enabled by going back to “Settings”.Snapchat
  7. You can force dark mode by scrolling down.

While there are a few alternatives for Android, they are a bit outdated now that Dark Mode is available. A good example is the Substratum app, which you can install and use easily. This app, however, is only available if you have rooted your Android device.

Moreover, the workaround will only work on rooted devices since the Preferences Manager app requires root access. You can root your device by following these steps. If that seems too complicated, then we suggest you wait until Snapchat officially rolls out the new dark mode for Android. Several iOS users have already gotten access to the feature, so it won’t be long before it rolls out to Android as well.
